I'm desperate to try this - I recently discovered a hot & sweet pickle relish (the brand is vadasz) which is amazing on burgers and I think would work really well for this idea too.
I live in Bahrain (small country in the Middle East). I have fallen in love with Shawarma pizza which has pickles. It's so good! I'm trying to recreate it at home for when we return to the US in another year.
Pickles on Pizza is awesome. I use Dave's spicy pickles, they keep there crunch. I also put spicy sausage, caramelized onions & shaper cheddar. We have Pizza & Martini night most Fridays and our friends that just seem to show up at our door on Fridays just around dinner time... go figure.
Some have looked at us sideways when I put the pickles on the pizza and end up pleasantly surprised.
I make a cheeseburger pizza that includes dill pickles. When I first heard of cheeseburger pizza I thought it was a bad idea but I tried it and I really like it. Unfortunately nobody I know wants to try and make it!
That actually sounds really good to me. And I am embarrassed to admit, but after discovering that I love pickles on pizza, it made me think relish would be good, too, and that got me thinking sliced hot dog would probably be good too... especially if it gets a little charred :)
I also took the advice you gave in your book about ordering some Chicago giardiniera and I now routinely add that to my pizzas. You can't get much more "picklely" than that.
Friday is always pizza night in our house 🍕 last night was pulled pork with homemade marinara sauce kicked up with a little hatch sauce added. Topped with 🇨🇦 cheddar and homemade pickled red onions. So good ❤️🍕
Fair enough, I hadn’t thought of it before, but it makes sense. My first thought reading this was olives - which I love on everything including pizza, so why not pickles?

Yes please. The Goat’s Beard in Wayne PA serves a Detroit style pizza with spicy dill slices and bacon as toppings. I dream about that pizza. I haven’t experienced Wickles pickle relish but going to look for it now.
I am definitely pro-pickle pizza. Shout out to Giresi's Pizza in Sarnia Ontario for showing me the way. They do their pickle pizzas super simple, with a garlic butter base, low-moisture mozz, dill and garlic parm crust. So much flavour, so satisfying!
Pickles on pizza has not crossed my mind but now that you mention it I’ve been adding a 1/4 cup or less of my kimchi, blending it with the cheese or into the sauce. As I get to the end of my batch, the KimChi is showing some sweet notes, almost like a relish and it’s delicious ( I made the bbq chicken with apricot pizza last night, from Pizza Night, with the kimchi, but the relish would have worked - crazy 😝 time). Now I’ll need to get some of that Wickles Pickles Relish.
Pickles on pizza sound delicious. I make a simple tortilla pizza with whatever toppings I have on hand, and I once used picked beets with spicy sausage and sharp cheddar. Very good!

Yessss! That was kind of a revelation for me... so different than the giardiniera I could find at my local grocery store.

Heck yes! Anything pig and pickles is great. Also like peanut butter on toast with pickles … hubs thinks it weird.
